since 'kids' can stay on insurance policies now until 26, maybe parents will now be responsible until then. i'm sure the regime would go for it. Time for another executive order - it's for the children !!

It wasn't that long ago that young men were being drafted and sent to Viet Nam when they were 18. Now it seems kids and many adults want to be supported and taken care all of their lives and that is BS. What happened to the times when people were proud to go out and make it on their own. Sometimes people need help and that's OK but it seems our society has a group of people that want help today, tomorrow and the same group will be expecting help next year and beyond. I'm a democrat but I'm tired of seeing these life long people expecting someone else support them all their lives. I'm not talking about the people that legitimately need help, I'm talking about the people that just don't want to support themselves. I guess I've said enough.

I want MDU to pay my heat bill for me and if they don't, I'm gong to sue them.
This is ridiculous. MDU has all of that natural gas and I have to buy it from them all of the time and never get a break.
I'm going to sue Excel energy too for not providing free electricity because I deserve some of it for free They've got all of the electricity and if I want to buy some of it from them they expect me to pay for it.
It's a crime that they charge me for something they have available at all times and then expect me to buy it from them.
I'm going to sue them all!
I'll cry like a little baby until MDU and Excel give me something for nothing.

Kids aren't asked to be born. Their parents want children, thus they should be responsible for anything the kid wants to better their future. That includes paying for her schooling. Think of the children!

I saw them discussing this girl on a news channel last night. The girl is a spoiled rotten little girl. It all started because she got kicked out of a private school and her parents were sending her to public school. This girl is also demanding her parents also give her a monthly allowance for clothing and entertainment. Spoiled rich kid. The parents said no, and now she is suing. Unbelievable.

Maybe the parents r loaded and spending 2 much on nose candy. If parents r frugal and can't afford it--i say no. If parents have and are wasting money; maybe it would be better spent on H. ed. In general no obligation exists but could i refuse mine a buck or 2 even after college--no way. As long as they don't waste it--they get it.

I suppose the Attorney is fresh out of our, too ignorant, ultra- liberal, "I hate America" / "I hate the Military" colleges. The media shouldn't be a pawn for the 25 year old Attorney to use as a platform or soap box to regurgitate some left-wing, European-born, college professor's anti-American b/s.
The biggest problem is the Judges who let this kind of crap litter their courtrooms.

Just because her parents have the option of keeping her on their health coverage until she is 26, does not mean that they have to pay for her college education. She is 18 and is considered an adult, so she is on her own. She could always join the military and use the G I Bill to pay for her college education, as a lot of Americans are doing or have done in the past.
She is a senior in HS. She is 18. She left home because she didn't like living under her parents' rules. She is suing for $650.00 a month, which isn't much to liv on really, and her college education. The government has told these munchkins that they are children till they are 26. These poor kids are living in a very confusing world. (sarcasm). Her parents spoiled her to the core and now they are reaping what they sowed.

for once I agree with goinpeace. Where is the outrage, the cry for transparency, the right of the public to know when they have been wronged or harmed in some way? More than 4 months of hacking before it was shut down and another MONTH before the public or those potentially harmed were informed? I guess higher ed is held to a lower standard than say-- oil, for instance.

Parents pay taxes which supports a student's education through secondary school. I believe their responsibility ends there. If they choose to help, fine and dandy, but post-secondary education is intended to increase earning potential for the young person throughout his/her work career. They benefit, they pay.
When I was a kid a part-time job could pay for college, now good luck.

I need to crrect my post. She was asking for $624.00/ WEEK, not the measly $625.00/month that I wrote. She remains a spoiled rotten brat, which her parents are responsible. Tuff love, too late, in my book.

I guess we can call this "a sense of entitlement gone wild."
My parents had the same rules, perhaps a little stricter because it was back in the day. I chose to ignore them and I was asked to move out.
There was NO WAY that I would have EXPECTED my parents to finance my choices. Whatever happened to 1) consequences and 2) self-respect?
