She excels with qualifications. Having spoke with her about a city matter--she is the most intelligent and helpful person in city hall. Did i mention blonde and pretty? Can't go wrong there.

blonde and pretty and RICH Legand; you must not support her in that case. Reconsider. It goes against your grain.

I would hate to lose the working knowledge of Hemphill in her current position. A combo of a strong leader with her financial knowledge would be a great combo. Degenstein has the private sector leadership qualities of problem solving as well as addressing a budget.

Minot has a city manager?

I think Greg Sund is the best candidate from the articles written and in addition he wants equal building around Minot. I am so sick and tired of North Minot getting their way and having nothing built on that side. It's rude and intrusion to the people of South Minot......also, when signs say no thru traffic, it means no thru traffic.....

Sund would be applying in TimBuckTwo if his grandkids were there. I find that is NOT a reason to apply for the management of Minot.
I vote to eliminate the position just like the MSU prez position...I'm sure things will be just fine without them.

Maybe the mayor position needs to be more of a full time position and not dog and pony show and eliminate the need for the City Manager's Position....other towns do this and we actually get to see day to day of what the mayors who do work full time do in all aspects of being a mayor....maybe Minot needs to go forward this way......
Minot is begging for new leadership and someone to establish a positive vision and direction for the community. While we need to rely on the council to make policy decisions, the council members tend to get too stuck in the 'emergencies' of the day - things like snow removal, potholes, and weeds - that they cannot see the bigger picture and the larger need for this community. After watching the YouTube videos posted on the city website, it's obvious to me that Sund is a dud. Hemphill has strong qualities, good experience at the city and has done well in her position since the flood. The concern would be that she won't be able to establish a strong vision and hold people in the various departments accountable because she's buddy/buddy with the other department leaders. Degenstein seems to have legit leadership qualities, great organizational experience, and a desire to understand and ask people why they're doing things a certain way. I think that's our guy.
