Sorry garr fish, you hold the record of banishments here and how many Post Removals have you had to date? The MDN must not like you very much. But who does?

Do either of our anonymous opinions matter to Ogden? Obviously not.

I'm glad you have general familiarity with journalistic practices. Had I known that earlier, perhaps I would have omitted a few sentences in my anonymous postings.

With the amount of anonymous kvetching you did about Ogden, MDN, editorializing, etc., I didn't know that you knew anything about journalism.

Oh, well, the anonymous life goes on for most of us here, except for Matt, Andrea and willgrr. I hope I didn't miss a named someone and anonymously hurt their feelings...

I'm not sure why you felt the need to anonymously respond to my anonymous post, but I will tell you anonymously, that I know much more than you about journalism in general.

Even if I didn't, I don't have to prove it do I?

FYI,there has been a code of ethics within print media whereby the news dept. seperates itself from the editorial board. Editorial boards themselves have traditionally remained neutral to corporate or executive influence ensuring that very little bias or agenda does not conflict with it's local audience.

I do no see this to be the case here...

"Why wouldn't you put your name, title & location on an Editorial???"

Justaman, look elsewhere then to see that editorials published in many papers do not have a byline or individual authorship listed. It's the editorial opinion of the organization itself, probably written in turn by several editorial staff members.

And if Ogden chooses to air its editorial opinion in ALL of its papers at once, it has the prerogative to do so, because Ogden owns them. Just because it bothers you is no reason for them to discontinue their practice.

So what to do? Buy a different newspaper, or support a different paper's online site, or purchase your own paper to exercise your brand of journalistic integrity. Newsflash: there is no news organization presently operating that has no bias.

Simple problem, simple solution.

Is there any way to find out who writes the Minot Daily News Editorials or who types in the polling questions? Like where are they from and what's their names?

Why wouldn't you want to know who writes an Editorial?

Are you missing the point?

"Ogden Newspapers, Inc., is a diversified media corporation that publishes 40 daily newspapers, several magazines, weekly newspapers and shoppers located in 12 states from Florida to upstate New York and as far west as Maui, Hawaii. The company has been headquartered in Wheeling, WV, since September 22, 1890. We are proud to be a part of the communities where our newspapers are located. This Web Site is dedicated to those communities and the organizations, governments and businesses that support them."

Why wouldn't you put your name, title & location on an Editorial???

Why?

Justaman, nice segue into your point, but I think people can choose for themselves what they care to read, just like they can choose what news they want to watch, just like they can choose what candidates they want to vote for, just like they can choose where to lodge complaints or comments.

If a newspaper organization wants to editorialize on what it feels is important, it can do it. And people can choose to support that newspaper organization. Or not. It's a free country.

"I hope residents of New Jersey are taking care of the Gov. Chris Christie business. It's their state and their problem."

You're right to question why anyone would want to involve themselves in other states issues...

I've read that Minot Daily News editorials come from Wheeling, WV...I've also read that editors of regional papers owned by out of state companies are unable to print any position that does not agree with those out of state owners...

You could say an agenda from say West Virginia is printed in a North Dakota newspaper...Or Maui, HI for that matter...

Would this be considered mining someone else's interests? Not to mention how many people in Minot would subscribe to the West Virginia Daily News?

I hope residents of New Jersey are taking care of the Gov. Chris Christie business. It's their state and their problem.

Why all the brouhaha about an eastern Republican governor? Did he announce candidacy for anything yet? Not that I heard, but somehow the media thinks New Jersey's issues merit national attention, for weeks.

Seems the SOTU address didn't attract as many viewers as SOTU addresses have in the past. I wonder why.

Okay Sherlock; you claim falsely that I have multiple accounts so name them. Whatever you manufacture will not be true but conjure away.

Have no use for ANYONE that employs them but you seem to have to do it, but why?

You've made yourself a clown around here and most would think that even you must be tired of the mockery by now.

This was the original question:

"How many American children went to bed hungry Tuesday night while Obama was putting a happy face spin on the debacle that is his presidency?"

There was no hack job. The editors were just embarrassed and had seconds thoughts about going too far.
