I was wondering, did they agree to not take any more federal money? Does this mean that all the women who work at this university don't take contraceptives and all the males don't get vacetomies.

A Catholic college in Ohio has apparently become the nation’s first to drop its health care plan because it opposes parts of the federal health care law signed by President Barack Obama.

The Franciscan University of Steubenville posted on its website last week that it is discontinuing its health care plan.

“The Obama Administration has mandated that all health insurance plans must cover ‘women’s health services’ including contraception, sterilization, and abortion-causing medications as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” the university says.

“We will not participate in a plan that requires us to violate the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church on the sacredness of human life,” the statement says.

The coverage includes emergency contraceptives such as Plan B, which can prevent implantation of a fertilized egg, but not drugs like RU-486, which can end an early pregnancy.

You're assuming again, willgrr. but what else is new?

willgrr, your comment implied that ALL married men say "yes dear" to their wives. That was what I was talking about, and that is what I dispute.

As far as bdgi, I've always said that you are more than adequate in NOT allowing any passes for him. Anything I might say would either be redundant or overkill, and you know that.

No need in being overly sensitive, willgrr. I'm sure you'll get over ANYTHING I could ever say to you...seriously.

"Their attitude wasn't docile about losing. Their game plan was to...ahem...obstruct."

Loco, if I were paying attention, I'd probably call this a "reverse admission" type of post.

Veritas, it all depends upon what you mean by "reverse admission" before I can decide to thank you or not.

"veritass...I am me and me alone straight up and true and honest unlike you and our libs... " Yes, mini, you are definitely you and you are judged by your writings. Using an extra "s" on veritas' handle certainly shows what you are. One need not even look at the rest of your post as it is obvious you are a right winger with hatred and anger. Yes, we do know you for what you are and the term "disreputable" comes to mind.

"ruled by the it or not..."

A while back, I posted info from DailyKos after Pres. GW Bush won re-election. Their attitude wasn't docile about losing. Their game plan was to...ahem...obstruct.

Time for the quote...

"We need to make the GOP radioactive. Their incompetence is providing the ammunition. It is our job to wield it. Remember, they control everything. We don't need to be bipartisan. We don't need to work with them for them to pass their agenda. So we offer up clear alternatives to everything they propose. We have to be aggressive.

"We have nothing to lose. Being in the minority is being in the minority. Yet we have much to gain."

"I'm attacking the message rather than the messenger!"

Veritas: "I'm not aware that your four line paragraphs that repeat the corner stores story of the day (because I've been there) CAN be verified. Don't know how many flustered red faced blunderers stomped away when I asked the simple question like why...or where did you read that and from whom...Missy, you would never pass a lie detector test if the first three questions were...What reliable source did you hear that from..."

When I see posts devoid of personal insults and slams, I'll believe it, Veritas. Until then....

Veritas, you almost seem like you don't like women when you post anything about Missy. That's surprising, especially when it comes from an enlightened never-gonna-be-a-Republican-ever type.

Since Missy isn't into forcing me to buy anything, unlike our ginormous all-caring government, I'll be in her corner, reading what she's reading, in spite of what you think of it.

We girls have to stick together, or something like that...

I think I know what socialism might be: forcing people to buy a product off the free market.

Or maybe that qualifies as something else?

polidork, I might have considered your points if they weren't delivered in such a condescending manner.

Maybe you can explain this to the MDN masses...

Weekly Standard 9-30-13

"Obamacare Website Quietly Deletes Reference to 'Free Health Care'"

"Since President Obama has been emphasizing of late how inexpensive Obamacare will be for many Americans, advertising the availability of "free" health care might have been viewed as a deterrent to purchasing even the least expensive option from the government-run exchanges. Since the "bronze" and "silver" level plans that the president has recently been touting as equaling "the cost of your cable bill" and "less than your cell phone bill" will still entail significant out-of-pocket costs for medical care, "free" might still look more attractive to many on the lower end of the income scale."

This article is NOT helping me understand PPACA any better...

"Mandates remove freedoms."

Right on! If I'm required (mandated) to buy insurance, I'm no longer free to choose whether or not I will buy insurance.

All the lefties can contort and confuse all they want about this very succinct statement about buying insurance, but it is the short and tall of it.

Mandates remove freedoms.

Well said, disgusted!

"A number of consumer organizations, including Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports, have been critical of HSAs because they provide the greatest benefit to young healthy people who do not have dependents and wealthy people who can save more on their taxes."

The one positive about HSAs that I can glean from this information is that the INDIVIDUAL or FAMILY gets to manage the money used in healthcare, not a third party like an insurance company or the government. HSAs have their merits.

Now, willgrr, when you quit laughing, please list the various merits of Obamacare, starting with the individual mandate...

"You can keep your HSA even if you change jobs, change your medical coverage, become unemployed, move to another state, or change your marital status.

"Your funds remain in the account from year to year – there are no “use it or lose it” rules

"Additionally, your HSA provides you triple tax savings: tax deductions when you contribute to your account, tax-free earnings through investment, tax-free withdrawals for qualified medical expenses.

"The health reform legislation (PPACA) signed into law in March 2010 makes some changes to how you manage your HSA. Starting January 1, 2011, you can no longer be reimbursed on a tax-free basis for the costs of over-the-counter medications. And, the tax on distributions from your HSA that is not used for qualified medical expenses will increase from 10% to 20%...."

"Now they don't know what to do since they have no Plan B. The other day I flipped on Sean Hannutty in the car and his solution was to have a health care savings account!"

What Are the Pros and Cons of Health Savings Accounts?

The U.S. Treasury Department states that the advantages of HSAs include:

"They provide security by protecting you against high or unexpected medical bills. "They may be more affordable due to lower health insurance premiums. You have the flexibility to use the funds in your account to pay for current medical expenses, including expenses that your insurance may not cover.

"You can save the money in your account for future medical expenses. "You can grow your account through investment earnings. "You make all the decisions about how much money to put into your account, whether to save the money for future expenses or pay current medical expenses, and which medical expenses to pay..."

Now, those posts are the "REAL" BDGI. Precise and to the point. Well, not really, but more of the trash/hatred/missrepresentation we are used to seeing from BDGI. The hatred returns and sensibility flies out the window. Someone in the past has stated that BDGI is from out of state? Is that Really true, BDGI?

As usual, whether copying material or having someone else write his blog, BGDI still doesn't present a valid point. It is easy to check the Obama's investments as they post their taxes (unlike certain Republican Presidential candidates) and their investments are put into a blind trust that they have no control over. But, to say they invest in health care, etc. is not only speculation but extremely poor comments at best. Over the past week or so, it is obvious that BDGI is not writing all the posts. It is actually refreshing to not have all the name calling, put downs, and general anger/hatred of the normal BDGI posts. Who ever is ghost writing on his posts, please keep it up.

Since, I have always paid my Insurance, things are not to change for me. Good luck with your great benefits. Keeping a real full time job. You don't think strapping a company that pays you a wage, isn't going to try make a profit, with people who sue for everything over everything and think their employers are making millions?

Since I don't cut and paste, I figure if you are really interested or wanted truth of facts, you would do it. I have given you names from different researches, you don't read them because they are not Liberal enough for you. You don't agree with what they say. It's my opinion that if it is the law of the Land. That means everyone. Obama does not get to pick and choose.
