If the United Nations attempts to bar the United States from carrying out a military strike against Syria, and Syria uses chemical weapons again, how should President Obama react?

  1. Obey the U.N. directive
  2. Make up his own mind
  3. Dump it on Congress

"The real scoreboard in liberal truth & fact finding is 92% while the fright wing-dinging with hearsay, conjecture & conspiritorial theories is batting in the teens..."

I find this statement about percentages to be rank hearsay and wild conjecture, and conspiratorically theoretical to boot.

"We do get a great dose of opinion, hatred, ridicule, derision, name calling etc from the right."

In my opinion, this statement would apply just as readily when the last word is changed to "left."

Facts are stubborn things, somebody said. Veritas' posts, though full of queries about others' "truth" when posting, haven't cited a source to back up any of the assertions about others' untruthfulness.

Veritas' recent posts are developed opinions, but they are just opinions.

Just like this post of mine is. I didn't cite a source, because there isn't one. Yet.

veritas...you are like my x sister in-law, she would state/argue her point/opinion till she was blue...no matter if she knew that she was wrong. She just wanted everyone to hear her opinion. Now that's sad that you and your pals are just like her a plum fool...

It would be great to have factual presentations coming from the right, but unfortunately, that almost never happens. We do get a great dose of opinion, hatred, ridicule, derision, name calling etc from the right. As Veritas stated, when you check agree with your winger bloggers, you give tacid approval to that behavior. BDGI, Dusty, & animal seldom if ever present facts and almost never provide material on where it came from. When they do, it is always a right wing source with little if any credibility. So, when they do start to provide truthful blogs, which I doubt will happen, it will shock the rest of the board.

"WHY do you guys even post when you are so totally against the MDN?"

I'm not against the MDN.

I'm against the re-printing of far right wing lunatic fringe talking points and editorials from the West Virginia Register.

I'm against the vulgar, anti-American, racist and sexist rhetoric you sheeple are too dim-witted or simply too evil to even recognize as such.

"Truth" can and should be proven authoritatively. Just because somebody says something is true is not a reason to believe it yet.

One way to help prove that something is factual or related-to-fact is to cite a source. Then the source can be reviewed in addition to the first post offered.

We shouldn't bandy about how we use the word "truth" or it will cease to mean anything.

One MDN poster posted the following saying of George Orwell:

"In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act."

He was a smart guy. Here's more Orwell quotes:

"Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear."

"All political thinking for years past has been vitiated in the same way. People can foresee the future only when it coincides with their own wishes, and the most grossly obvious facts can be ignored when they are unwelcome."

We joined the United Nations for a reason. To hold everyone in check and keep a level head. If the president has their support, that's one thing but to act alone is ridiculous. We need at least two other countries to have our back.

"WE need some NEW BLOOD on here....same old people....making the same old crappy comments about everything.... "

minotroses, you can be sure that most of the "new blood" that comes in here is scared away within the first day. Most of the "new blood" we get around here are longtime users who get banned under one username and resurrect themselves under a new username. I bet that of the regular posters, I'm the only one who still has the same username as when I began posting here.

Chemical weapons? What are they?

A different point of view would look at a chemical substance to be used to alter a person's perception of reality and the altered perception is used as a weapon.

What kind of nonsense is that?

If you prescribe medications to people who are perceived as, what can be said, bendable, pliable, complacent, then the medications will alter their reality to perceive the world with a new lens.

The theater shooter in Colorado, the Sandy Hook shooter, and now the cat who went postal at the Navy yard, went naval now, all were prescribed psycho drugs.

Maybe that should be fixed instead of a giant gun grab that Obama wants.

Ban chemicals that make drugs that make people go mad and kill others.

Those are the real chemical weapons.
