Speaking of the media.. During the Zimmerman trial media frenzy 74 people were killed in Chicago in one weekend.. Most of the victims and the shooters were black and yet it never made the National news..
Chicago reached a tragic milestone this past holiday weekend, surpassing 200 homicides for the year, with 74 people shot between Wednesday afternoon and Sunday night on the 4th of July weekend..
Where is the outrage? Where is the protests?.where are the marchers? Where is the Media?
Are they dead or out to lunch. Apparently no one in Chicago has the GUTS to report the killings.. And Jessie Jackson doesn't give a rat's backside..about those dead people does he.. even a 5 and 7 year old were shot to death..

One of the problems I have is the fact that the news, printed, radio, and television, don't cover the crime honestly. It seems as though there's a "gag" on the truth about the crime rates, and some of the dangers that need to be addressed. People who've lived here for years or decades, are used to NOT locking their doors, feeling safe going to the store at night... there needs to be more education about preventative measures, more honesty about the situation. Stop trying to "Save Minot's face", and start trying to save Minot's population from the dangers that exist.

to namexxx: look it up. I couldn't find any statistics indicating a sudden increase of murders or stabbings. The only increase for murders was when Minot jumped to 6 murders in 2011, only because of the guy that stabbed his girlfriend and family members to death. (not oil field related) other than that, Minot has had 1 to 3 murders a year over the past decade. I tried to put in the web sites, but this site does not allow it. Show me a year where Minot has NOT had a stabbing?

Lies. Minot has NOT always had "a lot of stabbings, murder, assaults."
You're out of your mind.

I haven't found it is any worse here than Minot, Bismarck, Grand Forks, or Fargo. We have more traffic and a lot more impaired drivers from booze or drugs. And if it means no work to be found or this oil business, I would take this oil business any day.

There have been violence, murders and crime in Minot before the flood and oil boom, and there will be the same after all is said and done. Minot has always had a lot of stabbings, murder, assaults...and they were not because of the flood or oil boom.

You can thank your Republican pals for the violence and death that is now devastating your communities. The Republicans call it "progress."

Crime has found its way to North Dakota.. But it is being handled by law enforcement. North Dakota is now becoming like every other state instead of just being the coldest darn place in winter. Media coverage like it has been getting will draw out the riff raff and send them our way.
Good thing Minot has always had a more than adequate supply of law enforcement thanks to federal funding due to the air base....now they have some real criminals to deal with instead of hassling the locals.

The oil boom and flood has drawn every outlaw and misfit in the lower 48 to the Bakken.
