Not a clue, leftwing. What exactly is a "cracker". If I was a young girl living in ND, and someone called me a cracker, I would have taken that wrong. Now explain what it means.

a cracker is a white person. the term originated in the south, when young southern belles avoided the sun whenever possible and their snow white skin was as pale as a soda cracker. it evolved to mean any white person, and was usually derogatory and occasionally racist.

and i'm sure leftwing realizes that only white people are capable of being racist and need to punished for everything that has ever happened. jerks/racists come in every color.

It depends on how the word is used.

I'm quite positive with this papers readership and West Virginia's, if the question was about the "N" word the results would show the opposite.
Which brings to mind, why is a West Virginia publication pretending to be a local paper? This question is nothing more than race baiting from some red neck hick from the hills out east. Wake up Minot!
Cracker, sometimes white cracker or cracka, is an expression reserved for privileged and/or racist white people, especially poor rural whites in the Southern United States. In reference to a native of Florida or Georgia, however, it is sometimes used in a neutral or positive context and is sometimes used self-descriptively with pride

Happy 4th of July everyone!
Make an extra effort to fly a flag that's made in America.
Um. Wow. This really happened. Hey MDN, why don't you throw out a few others and check the pulse of your "readership"? Lets start with slurs for Native Americans, and if you still have an operational website you can move on to Asians, then African Americans, and since you clearly believe in guns, "god", and Toby Keith, give the Middle East a shot. Just the basis of the question itself is so irresponsible

Current definition: Racist (race-ist) Any white person that says anything (positive or negative)about anyone of a different color that is not agreed with by any minority or Democrat.

ex. "I can't believe Obama didn't birdie that hole."
This would be considered racist as the Democrat thought he did pretty well on that hole.
Whites have been the victims of racism and discrimination since the birth of this nation.
I remember in 1989 the Centennial Celebration when the brain wizards blew off $30,000.00 of fireworks at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Less than impressive.

Good to know you have a "Black Friend" dusty...Does he read your posts?
Romney had alot of "Black Friends"...
I called you an American Jihadist dusty...and the shoe still fits...
Your take on others who don't recite after me is similar to the "infidel" complex of absolute prejudice which you're so capable of spitting out your panera pie hole...
Have a happy 4th of July!

"Is the term 'cracker' a racist slur?"
Well sure it is, inasmuch as it's meant to put down a person because of their ethnicity.
A better question might be "Does the slur 'cracker' offend you, as a white person?" Chances are that most would honestly say no, which I'd put up for discussion the cause being they're generally not in the position of being a minority, and lack that historically-grounded consciousness of institutionalised subjugation. So comparatively, it's less pointed an expression than other racial slurs might be.

Interesting choice of phrasing Namexxx... yours "Birth of this Nation" and the movie "Birth of a Nation".
What would you call this Mr. Freud?
Do you tell your "Black Friend" how thrilled you are when you hear Chicago crime stats?

Obama is half cracker.
Is that a racist?
A friend who is Hispanic (I don't think he is a "white" one) used to call me cracker for a long time, and I didn't even know what the connotation was.....I thought it was just a term of endearment....

"I'm not Ron Carlson either... He's a pathological liar and a fraud!"
For 250 years -- institutionalized bigotry, prejudice and discrimination has gone only one way in this country: Whites victimizing Black people.
That's reality. There's no such thing as "reverse racism" since we cannot reverse the realities of history.
There is no slur for Whites comparable to the N-word Whites have used for centuries to subjugate, denigrate and dehumanize African Americans.
