Now Veritas, you just need to admit that it just takes one to write a bill or in this case rewrite a bill. If a bill is not written, it cannot be presented to Congress to vote on.

So far you haven't given a plausible debate to nullify the fact that in 2006, Senator Biden wrote current version of the Patriot Act.

"You could have stated that I was correct in stating that Biden was JUST one of the 535 who signed the bill...As we all know how bills get produced and signed into law...By sometimes hundreds, literally hundreds of people involved so pointing to one only is skewed...period!"

Veritas, recently you introduced the idea of Congress not doing their job. If anonym provided specific information about one member of Congress and his actions in 2006, he should be applauded for telling the truth. There have been plenty of posts by lefties that have told the truth about Republicans, sometimes ad nauseum.

So, OK, for the sake of your feelings, I'll say "that (you were) correct in stating that Biden was JUST one of the 535 who signed the bill." Happy now?

"I'm Just A Bill"

No, I think there's already too many "bills" on this forum to have another one show up...

Veritas that would be implied in your Jun-10-13 9:10 AM response to my post. "Couldn't help notice the laziness of your follow up post..."

"I particularly like the generic groupings of say Congress and Committee followed up by specifics of "then Senator Joe Biden" Thank you locomotive, but it is very clear some who post here do not have a clear understanding of how a bill become law. If they started airing it again, School House Rocks would help them.

Veritas, anonym was correct in pointing out one of the 535 that helped "tweak" the Patriot Act in 2006: a Senator Biden, now Vice-President Biden.

And anonym correctly pointed out that since Pres. Obama re-authorized provisions of the Patriot Act in 2011 by signing his name onto it, repercussions from this tweaked and re-authorized Patriot Act can and should be shared by the current President and Vice-President.

I mean, really. How can President Bush be held entirely responsible for what Sen. Biden and Pres. Obama willingly did to uphold principles of that Patriot Act?

BTW, great posts, anonym.

It seems your intellect has missed the point, you did request specifics, or is what you find upsetting is my source was the Library of Congress, so you could not rant and rave about Fox News, Limbaugh, ect. When they do not look good in the polls, President Obama & Vice President Biden continue to blame President Bush for Laws that were originally signed into Law by him. President Obama signed the authorization to extend the roving wiretaps portion of the Patriot Act had he not done so, it would have expired, but says the law was enacted under President Bush, so it is not his responsibility. Well it was not former President Bush who reauthorized this portion of the Act on May 26, 2011, therefore when President Obama signed the extension into Law, it then became his Law and no longer President Bush’s Law. They will not even take credit for anything they wrote, sponsored, or voted yea on, as members of the US Senate that became law. It is “pass the buck” Obama and Biden.

Continued @ Veritas: If you do not need a history lesson, then do not refer to the US government as a Democracy when it is Republic. Even the Pledge of Allegiance reminds us of this, “ … and to the Republic for which it stands…”. Also, as you can see I have use ellipsis in the proper context, not just because they looked good.

Just to be clear this is from the Library of Congress, you did asked for specifics. The bill that was written by Senator Biden is S. 2271 USA PATRIOT Act Additional Reauthorizing Amendments Act of 2006, this became Public Law No: 109-178. It originated in the Senate & was passed on 3/1/2006 with a vote of 95 - 4, the Senate then sent it to the House of Representatives; where it was referred to House Judiciary, House Intelligence & House Financial Services committees, it was passed with a vote of 280 – 138 on 3/7/2006. In our Representative Republic, our government is made-up of three branches. One of those branches is the Congressional branch, which is comprised of the House of Representatives and the Senate. When one uses the term US Congress, it is a reference to the law making branch of government.

Now it is your turn to actually refute the data I have given you.

Veritas, I suggest you go to the Minot Public Library and check out some US government and US history books so you can have a better understanding of why we are a Republic and not a Democracy, and how laws are passed in this country.

Veritas, In our Republic, that we call the United States. Individual members of Congress, either in the House or the Senate write bills. The bill will have an author and oftentimes a co-author, the bill goes to committee for review, such as the intelligence committee, if it moves through the committee to the floor the bill is voted on. It then moves to the other branch of Congress to repeat the process. If it passes both branches of Congress it then goes to the President to sign. So when I stated in 2006, then Senator Biden, now Vice President, which means he was the Senator who authored & sponsored the current Patriot Act, that was passed by Congress and signed by then President Bush and reauthorized by President Obama.

The Library of Congress has all this information available for House bills, Senate bills and Presidential votes or vetoes.

One more thought. Does President Obama not understand that when he signs the document it goes into the Library of Congress archives under the President whose signature is on the document, not the predecessors? Maybe it is above his pay grade to know what is happening in the Executive Branch of the government or read what he is signing. After all PPACA was signed before anyone read it, because it was too long to read before signing it into law.

Although President Bush signed “The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001”, & reauthorized in March 2006, this version was written by, then Senator, now Vice President Joe Biden. On May 26, 2011, President Obama reauthorized the portion of the act that allows roving wiretaps, i.e., the ability of law enforcement officials to track targets if they change phones without law enforcement first consulting a judge, had he not done so this portion of the Act would have expired.

So ask yourselves this; since it was Senator Biden who wrote the current Act in 2006 & President Obama who signed the reauthorization of this portion of the act in 2011, shouldn’t President Obama & Vice President Biden be given credit for the current Patriot Act? Or do they only get credit for doling out the increased unemployment benefits, welfare & food stamp benefits, and other entitlements?

I am so glad we have you, Ron the hypocrite to explain all the logistics of the middle east. You are by far the best analyist, without facts, of any of the other bloggers including change and billwhatever. You have swallowed the BS of the right wingers .. did you notice how criminal congressman Issa is not talking about it anymore..Maybe because he would interview his people (those who said what he wanted) in public but interview anyone with the facts in private. Bengahzi is a non-issue no matter how hard your try. Oh, maybe you should call the military in charge to explain how they could have done it. I am sure they did not have your information.

Ten years ago the "yes" responses would have been 20%, and they would have been called Un-American, unpatriotic, blame-America-firsters, alarmist and worse by the people who then voted "no", but now for some mysterious reason have switched their vote to 'yes'.

Ummmm....What could possibly have changed? Huh?

The former constitutional law professor -- who rose to prominence in part by attacking what he called the government's post-Sept. 11 encroachment on civil liberties -- has undergone a philosophical evolution, arriving at what he now considers the right balance between national security prerogatives and personal privacy.

"I came in with a healthy skepticism about these programs," Obama said in San Jose on Friday. "My team evaluated them. We scrubbed them thoroughly. We actually expanded some of the oversight, increased some of safeguards. But my assessment and my team's assessment was that they help us prevent terrorist attacks."

"On net," the president added, "it was worth us doing."

????My Team????? Who runs the country? Who is "his team" that does all his thinking? Is he not capable of making a decision himself?

His team? Valerie Jarrett? Michelle? Hillary? Did he mean to say his harem?

Its called a leader.. You leftasses voted Obama back in. He didn't find you a job in 4 years so you decided to ride the unemployment check for another 4 years.. ooops the checks ran out and now your blaming Bush I suspect..

ANY good POTUS would have turned this around by now. Look at history,.This is the longest period of high unemployment ever.. Who is the leader? We don't have one. We got this dunce sitting in the WH or hanging out on the golf course.. has done absolutely nothing but cause more heartbreak for the people. 2014 You all need insurance.. Good Luck with that.. All low income will quit and jump on medicaid and welfare because they will otherwise have to pay out their entire check for insurance..
