The Republicans borrowed money from a lender to spend, they didn't tax to spend.

Last year, the interest paid to bankers that the fed gov paid was 454 billion dollars.

Had President Obama vacationed all during his administration and avoided doing his job altogether, the fed gov wouldn't be an additional 10 trillion dollars in debt.

With any luck, he'll be golfing tomorrow and the next day after that.

President Bush spent a total of 3 YEARS ON VACATION over his 8 years in office! All the while we had two wars going on and the mismanagement of the hurricane Katrina disaster! Not to mention the worst economic disaster since 1929! Yes old GW left quite a legacy!

Wouldn't it be a large meteor?

It wouldn't be a meteorite until after it has collided with the earth.

I was up all night last night worrying and wondering if the fly-by asteroid would boomerang, fly right back to the earth, collide with the Super Large Hadron Collider and destroy the entire earth.

It hasn't happened yet, so I am somewhat relieved. I can get some sleep now, but I will still worry a little about the boomerang effect.

If our nation's economy is in trouble, I'd think a viable, visible leader like our President would be setting an example of prudence and/or frugality in his presidential and personal life.

What it looks like is "I feel your pain" in the SOTU speech, then "sorry, gotta run" to the next vacation spot. That is what it looks like.

Do I want to go instead of he & and his family? No. I want all of us USA citizens to get real about our profligate spending and the debt crisis, or at least act like it's real. If it's not real, why the various press conferences about this or that economic issue?

Leaders should, by virtue of their position, lead by example. Not that hard to understand or appreciate, in a real world.
