What should be done about the 10,000-square-foot Governor's Residence, said to be in need of major repairs and updating?

  1. Fix it
  2. Build a new residence
  3. Build a new mansion
  4. Let it slide

how about some real tax relief for the rest of us so we can fix up our own homes? i have to "let things slide" in order to pay Minot's insane property tax rates, so i think the mansion is good enuf already in spite of some pols thinking we need a palace.

I hope something like a Governor's residence would have some sort of historical value to the State. I like progress but I don't like to destroy history in the process.

Fix up the house? Who in the world can afford to do that?

I gave up a long time ago when taxes suddenly became double of what they were. It gets tiring to try to keep up with the constant increases in taxes and monthly bills. It is no use. I give up.

Build a new governor's mansion anyway, just to show off to visitors what money can buy these days.

It's a nice house and I don't believe that fixing it could be that much. Unless they're using 10,000.00 hammers...

repair and update. The ranch style fits nicely on the property and is unassuming. Or is that the problem? Lets fix it and update it. That will be expensive enough!

The House defeated the measure. The money used would not be from taxes. It is from income set up by the feds when we became statehood from land or some such thing. The current home was built in the early 60's. But, tax relief for us would be a wonderful thing. This shifting of the property tax that they are doing os going to come back and bite us. And for many there is no property tax relief.

I could have built a double garage for what I have paid in property tax the last two years--of course that would have increased my tax on that more--Based on State Tax Equalization--The Mansion(primarily used for RECREATION}-- needs to be taxed at same rate.I have to pay out of my earnings so the Governor should to --its only FAIR--Still waiting for meaningful property tax relief.

Normal maintainance ONLY! For once I'd like to see these lifer politicians live on a real budget like the rest of us! But, no, the more they can steal from the public the more they spend! There has to be an end to this rape and pillage by the special people!!!

sorry for the blatant error of "There is tax money spent on the governor's home. :" It should read there is NO tax money spent on the home for the governor.
