I have been notified many time. You get time off, early years, when working for someone, and they plea bargain or something else happens. Now our courts are messed up. My Husband was called, court was cancelled, they called to cancel, they had our telephone humber. He never got the notice. They had the wrong address. Besides that he was in the hospital. No wonder things don't work anymore.
I've been called up several times and served twice. When the letter arrives in the mail there is a sense of dread, but each time was very professional and a good experience.
ZRider is right but the last one about five years I was called on could have been done just in front of a Judge. The two were friends(still) and it was about an injury sustained on the ranch of the defendant.
If you want to get out just say you hate lawyers, drug users, prostitures and cops...they probably will dismiss you.
I have been notified several times and served on one trial. It is not an enjoyable experience but one of responsibility. Once called civic duty for some now thought of as losing money and a waste of time.
If your talking to me PJ, knee surgery. Blue Cross & Blue Shield, which we personally pay for. At least we didn't have to depend on Obama Care, that the Unions are trying to get help from the tax payers.
Pj, that comment is more stupid that any other comments you have made. Smoking has nothing to do knee surgery. There is something to be said for looking stupid, but opening ones's mouth removes all doubt.

Never been called, but it sounds like it'd be interesting. Sort of like sitting through a committee meeting, but with coffee.

I was notified for jury duty once, but didn't have to serve.
No such thing as 'civic duty' these days when the gov has made life a complete waste of time.
