Bruce L. Nordquist, 52, lost his battle with brain cancer Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014. He had been residing at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, S.D., for the past four months.

He was born Feb. 12, 1962, in Minot, N.D., the son of Dennis Nordquist and Marlys Skaar Jones (deceased). He was baptized at First Lutheran Church, Parshall, N.D., and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. He graduated from Minot High School in 1980. He moved and lived in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Colorado Springs, Colo., for several years prior to moving back to Scottsdale where he lived until his diagnosis in September 2011 when he then moved to Sioux Falls for treatment and care.

Bruce graduated in 2009 from Arizona State University with a Master in Business Administration and was pursuing a job opportunity in Duluth, Minn., prior to getting sick. While living in Arizona he was a member of the Living Word Bible Church, Mesa, which he continued via Web while living in Sioux Falls. Bruce was a golfer, involved in jui-juitso, enjoyed working out, loved his friends and had a huge heart for dogs.

Surviving are: his son, Ryan Muller of Scottsdale, Ariz.; dad, Dennis and stepmom, Cindy, of Minot; his sister, Sandi (Nordquist) Piper, her fiancee, Chuck Hoogendoorn and her children, Josie and Josh, of Sioux Falls; his stepsister, Christa Brunsell, her husband Troy and children, Jayden, Braylee and Kynlee, of Surrey; and his half brother, Chad Nordquist of Hutchinson, Minn., and several aunts, uncles and cousins, residing in North Dakota, Wyoming and Iowa.

He was preceded in death by: his mom, Marlys Skaar Jones; and his grandparents, Selma and Orville Nordquist and Selma and Harold Skaar.

Bruce wished to be cremated and "Celebrated in Life" with the spreading of his ashes in Arizona at a later date.
