Communities can apply for disaster prepared grants
Eligible North Dakota communities can apply for federal grants for disaster resilience and future preparedness projects.
States and communities that received a presidentially declared major disaster in 2011, 2012 or 2013 are eligible to apply. The state of North Dakota and the City of Minot are both eligible applicants. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development oversees the two-phase National Disaster Resilience Competition and will award $1 billion to eligible applicants to assess, plan, design and implement innovative resilience projects in their communities that also provide better preparation for future storms and other extreme events. More information is available from the U.S. Department of HUD.
