Blake Johnson

Blake Johnson, 23, of Mandan, formerly of Bottineau, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, on arrival to a Bismarck hospital.

Blake was born Sept. 3, 1990, in Minot, to Wayne and DeAnna (Preskey) Johnson. He was raised in Glenburn until 1996 when the family moved to Cando. They moved to Bottineau in 2003 where Blake attended grades 7-12 and graduated from Bottineau High School in 2009. In high school, Blake excelled in sports, participating in football, hockey and basketball. While in high school, Blake worked for Rod Parrill and then the Bottineau Farmers Elevator. He attended Bismarck State College and graduated from the electrical lineman program in 2010. He worked for Midwest Power in Bismarck and then for Brink Construction for a time before returning to Midwest Power where he was currently employed.

Blake enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He took a recent trip fishing to Canada with his dad and made several trips to the mountains to snowmobile.

He is survived by: his parents, Wayne and DeAnna Johnson, of Bottineau; brothers, Tyler, of Fargo, Kirby, of Bismarck and Wyatt, of Bottineau; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Evelyn Preskey, of Minot; paternal grandmother, Judy Johnson, of Minot; stepgrandmother, Bernice Johnson, of Phoenix; aunts and uncles, Dean (Jean) Johnson, of Glenburn, Mitchell (Joanie) Preskey, of Glenburn, Kendall (Carol) Preskey, of Bismarck, and Rochelle Preskey, of Waltham, Wash.; cousins, Grace Johnson, Olivia Johnson, Cory (Deseraye) Preskey, Nathan Preskey, Kayla (Joe) Lorsung, Karen (Josh) Glover, Jennifer (Scott) Bina, RaeAnn Preskey and Nicole Preskey; and his loving girlfriend, Karlee Godejohn, of Grand Forks.

He was preceded in death by: his grandfather, Gordon Johnson; and great-grandparents, Lester and Palma Johnson, Bill and Frances Long, Raymond and Julia Souther and Leo and Neva Preskey.

His funeral will be: Today, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m., at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center.

Burial will be: Today, at 3:30 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Minot.

Arrangements are with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
