The Minot Salvation Army is accepting applications for Back to School Supplies through Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch will hold its annual Motorcycle Rally Saturday with registration and departure from Pure Honda, 1520 U.S. Highway 2 E, Minot. The rally benefits the National Youth Project Using Minibikes. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the run starting at 10:30 a.m. at Pure Honda. Cost is $20 per bike, which includes lunch and dinner. The ride route will encompass Minot, Bottineau, Granville and then back to Magic City Harley-Davidson, 515-20th Ave. SE, with stops along the way for prizes, food and a short presentation on NYPUM. NYPUM uses the bikes as incentives for the youth at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch to achieve goals and, in turn, teaches the youth how to care for and safely ride the off-road bikes. Habitat for Humanity-Northern Lights Chapter of Minot is currently seeking applications for its next "partner family" who will be eligible to move into a new house available this fall. The family must meet certain criteria including income, need of adequate housing, ability to make monthly house payments, be a resident of the Minot area, and willing to contribute 250 hours of sweat equity per adult.
