Violet Ellvanger, 84, of Stanley, died Friday, July 11, 2014, in a Minot hospital.
Violet was born in Belden on Nov. 11, 1929, to Emil and Ida Julia (Alamaa) Aho. She grew up in the Belden area and attended the Diamond School east of Belden.
Violet married Floyd Ellvanger on July 23, 1947, in Stanley. They farmed north of Manitou and raised their four children there. In 1964 they moved into Stanley. Floyd died in 1999 and Violet continued to make her home in Stanley. Her home was a family gathering spot for coffee and visits. She enjoyed games of Scrabble, her flowers, shopping and loved seeing the new great-great-grandbabies.
She is survived by: her sons, Greg (Yvonne), of Manitou, and Kenny (Leslie), of Stanley; daughters, Deb (Bernie) Wright and Lana (Jim) Jorgenson, both of Stanley; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Meiers, Stanley; brothers, Melvin (Gloria) Aho, Mohall, and Glenn (Kathy) Aho, Campbellsburg, Ky.
Violet was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Floyd; granddaughter, Kristi Keinert; great-great grandson, Maddyx Ellvanger; siblings, Edwin, Harlan, Edna, Velma, Marvin and Marilyn.
Funeral services will be: Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Our Saviors Free Lutheran Church in Stanley.
Burial will be: in the Manitou Cemetery.
Visitation is: Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley.
