Minot Police arrested two men shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday in connection with a purse-snatching incident at Walmart on Wednesday. Both men face a variety of charges.
Arrested were 23-year-old Stuart Harding and 38-year-old Donald Gates III. According to a Minot Police report, an off-duty officer observed a silver Pontiac Grand Prix traveling in the area of Second Avenue and South Broadway. The vehicle matched the description of the suspect vehicle and the driver, Gates, was identified as one of the suspects.
Patrol officers were able to locate the vehicle in the parking lot of Amtrak and detained the two men. Investigation revealed that Harding took the purse from the victim and got into a vehicle driven by Gates.
Harding was arrested for criminal conspiracy to commit theft, a class C felony; theft, a class C felony; and possession of marijuana under one-half ounce, a class B misdemeanor. Gates was arrested for criminal conspiracy to commit fheft; possession of stolen property, a class C felony; possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia, both class C felonies; possession of schedule II narcotics, a class C felony; and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.
Neither individual had a fixed address. Both were transported to the Ward County Jail.
