Funeral services for Christine Larsen, 76, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the Turtle Mountain Lutheran Church, Souris, with interment following in the church cemetery.
Christine Ellen Larsen, 76, wife of Richard F. Larsen and mother of Reidar F. Larsen and Maia M. Leon, died peacefully in her home in Santa Monica, Calif., on Dec. 7, 2013, after a short fight with cancer.
Christine, the only child of Michael and Lillian Frawley, was born in Worcester, Mass., on Nov. 7, 1937. She attended college in Boston where she met, and subsequently married, Richard F. Larsen in New York City on April 1, 1961. During their 52 years of marriage they lived in London; Grand Forks and Bismarck; Bethesda, Md.; and San Francisco, Calif., before moving to Santa Monica in 1975. An avid reader she worked at a publishing house in London when first married and subsequently helped start and manage a regional bookstore in Grand Forks.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, bicycling, horseback riding, reading and spending time with her family and friends, including her three grandchildren, Reid, 19, Ella, 17, and Matthew, 8.
Christine, a 37-year resident of Santa Monica, was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Los Angeles, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the Angels Attic Museum.
