Bernadine Ziegler, 75, of Hazen, ND died Friday, June 20, 2014 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at St. Martin Catholic Church, Hazen with Fr. Patrick Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, Hazen.

The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Tuesday at the church with a vigil service at 7:00 PM.

Bernadine Schell, daughter of Anton and Rose (Keller) Schell, was born March 1, 1939 on the family farm near Orrin where she was raised and attended Rosebush Township country school.

On April 14, 1958 she was married to Louis Ziegler in Drake. They made their home in Drake and raised four children; Mark, Keith, Pam and Terry. In 1989 they moved to Golva where she was Postmaster until the time of her retirement in 2001 when they moved to Hazen.

Bernadine was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church of Hazen. She was a cancer survivor since 2001 and had tremendously enjoyed her years filled with doing things she loved such as fishing, golfing, playing cards, visiting casinos and especially spending time with family and friends. Bernie will be deeply missed not only by her family but also by all those with whom she had a special relationship. Bernie was someone you could truly hold a great conversation with and her caring ways will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband Louis of 56 years; her children Mark (Reyna) Ziegler, Pam (John) Drath, all of Hazen and Terry (Daphne) Ziegler of Bismarck; nine grandchildren Shane, Joshua, Rose, Kayla, Carlie, Paige, Mariah, Rylley and Sean; three great grandchildren Hunter, Hailey and Brancen; four sisters and one brother, Clara Hood of Pensacola, FL, Delores Schmidt of Linton, Betty (Steve) Burns of Milton, FL, Rose Keller of Towner, and George Schell of Towner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Keith, two sisters Beverly and Mary and two brothers Tony and Joe.
