The Minot's convention and visitor's bureau, Visit Minot, is about to launch a search for a new executive director to replace Wendy Howe.
Howe held the position for more than 11 years. She resigned earlier this month.
"I really enjoyed my years at the CVB. I really enjoyed my time there," Howe told The Minot Daily News. "I left for personal reasons. Sometimes it's just time for a change."
Maria Effertz-Hanson, Visit Minot's first vice-president, confirmed that the board was in the process of beginning a search for a new executive director. When asked about Howe's resignation Effertz said, "She just resigned. That's the official language I'm going to give you."
A second board member stated, "Nope. Can't answer to that," when asked if it was known why Howe resigned.
William Thomas, Visit Minot's board president, sent a June 3 e-mail notice of a special meeting to be held June 6 with the agenda to include "executive director search." A second e-mail two days later announced that the meeting had been canceled. A source told The Minot Daily News that the meeting was canceled due to Howe submitting a letter of resignation.
"We're hoping to advertise the position in a week or two," said Effertz-Hanson. "We'll fill the spot as soon as a qualified candidate comes along. We hope they can come in and be able to keep Minot moving forward."
