Byron M. Hanson, 70, Carpio, died Friday, May 16, 2014, at a Minot hospital.
Byron was born Feb. 10, 1944, in Minot, the son of Byron and Athena Hanson and at the age of 4 was raised by Edwin and Alvida Thompson in Carpio. In 1963, he graduated from Carpio High School. After graduating from high school Byron started working for Fisher Motors in Minot.
Byron married Judy Johnson on Oct. 5, 1963, at Carpio Lutheran Church. The couple made Carpio their home and in 1978 started farming. Byron farmed and worked in the oil fields for which he bought a plane to fly back and forth from home and work. Byron's family and friends were his life. He loved farming, playing Texas Hold'em and had great sense of humor.
Byron was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church.
Survivors: wife, Judy, Carpio; daughter, Annette (Joe) Drebensted, Wichita, Kan.; sons, Darren, Carpio farm, and Gerald (Jessy), Carpio; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Tristan and Dillon; sister, Yvonne Peterson, Willow City; brother, Gary (Liz) Hanson, Fayetteville, Ga., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Byron was preceded in death by: his parents; foster parents; sister, Verona; and brother, Lorrey.
Memorial service: Tuesday, May 27, 2 p.m., at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal but friends may sign a guest register Monday, May 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
