Llewellyn Reuben Mattern, age 67, died on May 9, 2014, in Scottsbluff, Neb.
A memorial service for him will be held at the AmVets Club Post, 2422 Railroad Avenue, Bismarck, N.D., at 11 a.m., and he will be laid to rest at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1825-46th St., Mandan, N.D., on June 2, 2014, at 2 p.m.
He was born to Reuben and Evelyn (Steen) Mattern on Aug. 29, 1946, in Minot, N.D. Llewellyn honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. He worked as a UPS Driver in Steamboat Springs, Colo., and retired after 28 years of service. Llewellyn then worked on the Buffalo Creek Ranch, Walden, Colo., for 15 years.
Llewellyn Mattern is survived by: his three daughters, Jana R. Beyer (Daniel), Amy L. Mattern and Shannon M. Mattern, grandchildren: Brittany, Katherine, Kelly, Kristy and Alexander. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Mattern, and by his brothers and sisters, Laverne E. (Theresa) Mattern , Carolyn J. Pryce-Jones, Leonard A. Mattern, Carmen R. Mattern, Colleen E. (Tom) Miller, Charlene E. (Gary) Johnson. He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Reuban Richard Mattern, and brother, Clinton O. Mattern.
