Stanley Estenson, 75, Minot, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, in a Las Vegas hospice center.

Stanley Clifford Estenson was born May 29, 1938, the son of Clifford and Margaret (Hall) Estenson, in Bottineau. He was raised and educated in Gardena, graduating from Gardena High School in 1957.

On Oct. 14, 1961, Stanley was united in marriage to Irene Duff at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Willow City. The couple made their home in Minot.

Stanley was drafted in the Army on Nov. 15, 1961. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge Oct. 12, 1963. Following his discharge, Stanley returned to Minot, where he worked in the parts department at Westlie Motor Co. for a time. Stanley also worked for Pierce Trailer Sales, spent 17 years with Bacon Signs, and worked for railroad crew transport for 10 years, retiring in 2007.

Stanley was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, of Minot, the Minot American Legion Post #26, sang with the Nodakords and was a lifetime member of the Minot Musicians Association.

Stanley enjoyed fishing, working in his garage and doing yard work. He also enjoyed playing in the Dakota Ramblers with his dad and uncle. Stanley and Irene enjoyed traveling across the country in their RV. They became full-time RV'ers in 2009. Stanley especially enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, which were his pride and joy.

Surviving family includes: wife of 52 years, Irene; children, Dale (Christina) Estenson, Las Vegas, Linda (Robert) Mooberry, Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Laura, Brian, Sarah Estenson, Deanna and Juliana Mooberry; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; his son Bradley, and daughter Lynn Marie.

Funeral: Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan.

Visitation: Today, May 14, from 1 to 5 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil prayer service: Today at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
