Jenny M. Malsom, 81, Minot, passed peacefully Sunday, May 11, 2014, in a Minot hospital, surrounded by her family.

Genevieve "Jenny" Mary Kraft was born Sept. 25, 1932, in Strasburg, a daughter of Melchior and Margaret (Hilsendger) Kraft. She was raised and educated in the Strasburg area.

Jenny was united in marriage to Pius Malsom on Dec. 22, 1950, in Strasburg. They made their home in various locations until 1957, when the family moved to Minot. Jenny was employed by Minot Sash and Door for 17 years as a cabinet maker. Later she took employment as a banquet server for the International Inn in Minot. For the past 15 years, Jenny worked as a nutrition service assistant at Minot Public Schools, specifically at Roosevelt Elementary School in Minot.

Jenny was well-known for her extraordinary cooking and spirits. She was also a skilled bowler and had a green thumb. She enjoyed spending her time watching her children and grandchildren participate in numerous sports and school activities.

Jenny and Pius were active members of Little Flower Catholic Church Parish and the Moose Lodge in Minot, where they could be seen nearly every Saturday evening dancing the polka. Jenny was the heart and soul of her family. Her home was always filled with food, family, friends, and love. She touched the lives of everyone she met and will be dearly missed.

Jenny is survived by: her husband of 63 years, Pius; and two sons, Ronald Malsom, New Town, Kenneth (Jane) Malsom, Minot; three daughters, Deb (Mike) Schumacher, Linton, Sherry (Jerry) Hanshew, Minot, Lori (Mike) Lizotte, Grand Forks; 12 grandchildren, Matt, Heather (friend Mister Carney), and Jonathon (friend McCall Kroeplin) Lizotte, Minot, Chad (Tara) Schumacher, Bismarck, Troy Schumacher, Grand Forks, Jennifer (Derek) Bosch, Yuma, Ariz., Amanda (fiance Jason Gjelstad) Schumacher, Minot, Marantz and Cole Hanshew, Minot, Nicholas and Faith Malsom, Minot; and seven great-grandchildren; Jordon, Jaeley, Jais Schumacher, Jaida, Aubry, Jaxon Bosch, Liam Lizotte; three sisters, Eva Heilman, Fargo, Phyllis Fischer, Hague, Walburga Wohl, Portland, Ore.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial park, Minot.

Visitation: Today, May 14, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil prayer service: Today at 7 p.m., in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel.
