"A Trip Around the World," featuring works from Grand Forks native John Postovit, will be on display through June 6. Postovit works primarily in charcoal and chalk pastels, using methods that produce large drawings with intense colors. "Augmented reality" might be the most concise description for these drawings, which are quite realistic but often hide unexpected elements.
The Taube Museum of Art has created a new monthly art class, "Art All Around," geared towards children 9 years and older. Classes, which are 1 1/2 hours, will include printmaking, repousse, acrylic painting and watercolors. Each monthly session is $18 per child, which includes all the supplies needed to create their masterpiece. The last class will be today from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Class size is limited for a more individualized instruction, so early registration is advised. For more information or to register, call the Taube at 838-4445, email email@example.com or visit (taubemuseum.org). Also, the Taube Main Gallery is seeking entries for its seventh annual Small Works Exhibit and Auction, and second annual Children's Small Works Exhibition. Main St., Minot, ND 58703. All mailed and/or hand delivered items must be received by June 7 at 4 p.m. The event will wrap up with an annual Summer BBQ and Auction that will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., which is free and open to the public. A portion of the auction proceeds will support the Taube Museum of Art, a non-profit organization, with the rest to the artist. Normal museum and gift shop hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no charge for admission, but contributions are accepted to help the Taube Museum fulfill its mission of enriching lives through the visual arts.
