Richard Juergens, 67, Minot, died Monday, April 14, 2014, in a Minot hospital.

Richard Myron Juergens was born March 1, 1947, a son of Leo E. and Edna C. (Pederson) Juergens, in Waterford Township near Minot Air Force Base. He attended Glenburn School.

On June 28, 1969, Richard was united in marriage to Julie Kay Halvorson in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where Richard worked for Minot Public Schools for 32 years, retiring in 2002. Together they enjoyed working at Minot High School athletic events, and made many friends. Julie passed away Oct. 26, 2004. Richard continued to live in Minot.

Richard enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee, attending auction sales and collecting antiques. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Richard is survived by: son, Kevin (Sarah) Juergens, Bismarck; daughter, Kari (Marlin) Thorson, Minot; grandchildren, Reagan Juergens, Paxton Juergens and Kaitlyn Thorson: brothers, Leo (Mary) Juergens, Minot, Curtis (Ruth) Juergens, Minot, Wes (Judy) Juergens, Surrey; sister-in-law, Jill (Earl) Fredericksen, New Town; nieces and nephews, Brenda (Wayne) Foster, Karla (Michael) Paurus, Rhonda (Wes) Maas, LeAnn (Kory) Alexander, Melissa (Alex) Baier, James (Becky) Fredericksen, Andrew Fredericksen; great-nieces and great-nephews, Danielle and Dustin Foster, Jennifer Eggen, Kamdyn Alexander, Hunter and Alyssa Baier, and Kiefer, Miles, Skylee and Savannah Fredericksen.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral service: Monday, April 21, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Saturday, April 19, from noon until 4 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and Monday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
