The American and Canadian flags struggle against their posts outside the Souris Valley Golf Course clubhouse Wednesday afternoon, opening day for the course’s front nine holes for the 2014 season. Initial turnout at noon was good, but petered off by mid-afternoon as gusts surpassed 50 miles per hour. Despite the possibility for frost this weekend, the back nine are planned to open this Friday at noon if the weather remains dry. “This time of year it’s kind of a guessing game,” explained Steve Kottsick, Minot Park District golf director.
