Helen Hammond, 96, Minot, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in a Kenmare hospital.
Helen Benner was born April 30, 1917, a daughter of George and Anna (Giesick) Benner, in Lincoln, Neb. She was raised and educated in Lincoln, Neb.
Helen was united in marriage to Elliott O. Hammond on Nov. 16, 1940, in Lincoln, Neb. They predominantly raised their boys in Bloomington, Minn., where Helen baked for the elementary school. Helen and Elliott retired in Sorrento, Maine.
Helen is survived by: two sons, Wylie G. (Kathy) Hammond, Bowbells, and Elliott B. (Ann) Hammond, North Sioux City, S.D.; four grandchildren, Alexandra M. (Andrew) Norris, Alyssia H. (Chris) Cursi, Lucas W. (Katie) Hammond and Chad E. (Brooke) Hammond; two great-grandchildren, Josie Hammond and Willow Cursi; one sister, Elaine Siefert, Lincoln, Neb.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen was preceded in death by: her husband, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Service: Monday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.
Burial: will take place at a later date at the York Cemetery, Sullivan, Maine.
Visitation: Monday, April 7, one hour prior to the service at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.
