JoAnn "Jody" Schwanz, 67, of Crosby, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Jody was born May 7, 1946, in Crosby, the daughter of Allen and Magdalene (Oved) Moum. She was raised on the Moum farm and graduated from Crosby High School in 1964. She married Larry Schwanz on April 30, 1965.

Jody worked as a cashier at the Crosby drug store until she started having children. She worked for Divide County School District, starting in 1977 as a custodian and later as the high school secretary, retiring in 2009. Jody enjoyed the kids very much and insisted they call her Jody, not Mrs. Schwanz. When she retired the wall behind her was completely covered with senior pictures she had received while there.

Jody's grandchildren were the most important thing in her life. She always made sure they knew she was there for them. She enjoyed spending time with them, babysat them when they were little and went to all the important events in their lives. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, bowling and golfing.

Jody was preceded in death by her mother and father, "Tootsie" and Allen Moum; brother, Arnold Peter Moum; sister, Marie Church; and husband, Larry Schwanz.

She is survived by: her brother, Dale Moum, of Crosby; sister, Allison (John) Hecker, of Havre, Mont.; daughters, LeeAnn (Chris) Dunn, of Arthur, and Stacie (Spencer) Brown, of Berthold; grandchildren, Zane Dunn, of Miamisburg, Ohio, Seth Dunn, of Fargo, Raelle Dunn, of Fargo, Jerica Schwanz, of Berthold, Laurella (Ella) Brown, of Berthold; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be today, March 28, at 11 a.m., in Concordia Lutheran Church, Crosby, with Chaplain Myra Osvold officiating.

Burial will follow at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Crosby.

Visitation will be today, one hour prior to the service, in the church.

Stakston-Martin Funeral Home of Crosby is in charge of arrangements.
