Thomas K. Klimpel was born in Minot on Oct. 15, 1945, a son of Milton and Ruth Klimpel. He died March 12, 2014, at age 68 at Placerville, Calif.
Tom graduated from Dakota Lutheran High School, in Minot, in 1964. He served in the N.D. National Guard and worked in sales at O'Day Equipment for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting, car racing and spending time with family and friends. He married Mary Jane Schmidt and they were later divorced.
He married Sandra (Bondly) Derheim on June 14, 1985, in Minot. They moved to Diamond Springs, Calif., in 1986, where they started their business T K. Enterprises.
Survivors: children, Chad Derheim, of Kent, Wash., Darren (Josie) Derheim, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Ryan Derheim and Brandee Derheim, both Minot; sister, Virginia (Duane) Walsh, Eau Claire, Wis.; sister-in-law, Jackie Klimpel, Green Valley, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Jim (Linda) Bondly, Ewa Beach, Hawaii; grandchildren, Austin and Wesley Derheim, Adam and Amanda Derheim, Mariel and Marvin Salcedo, Garrett, Grayson and Gavin Derheim, Alexus Kirk and Seyth Derheim; one great-grandson, Zayden; nieces and nephews, Jane Benesh and sons, Jason Ousey (Amy) and Alex Ousey; Joan (Wade) Groves and children, Samantha (and son Ryan) and Drew Groves; Tanya (Don) Powers; and Shawn and Joseph Bondly.
Tom was preceded in death by: his wife, Sandy; parents, Milton and Ruth Klimpel; and brother, Roger.
Burial will be June 7, 2014, at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.
A Celebration of Life for Sandy and Tom will be held at the home of Joan and Wade Groves, rural Minot, June 7 in the afternoon.
