Gary Lee, 60, Minot, formerly of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, in Minot.
Gary Lynn Lee was born Nov. 25, 1953, the son of Gordon and Nina (Hulse) Lee, in Minot. He was raised and educated in Lansford.
As a young adult, Gary worked as a farmhand for several Lansford area farmers. He also had worked for a Lansford body shop, where he learned to do body work. He later worked with his father at Sagsveen & Lee John Deere Implement in Lansford.
Gary married Coleen Williamson on Dec. 28, 1978, in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where their daughter, Sheena, and son, Jacob, were born. He and his two brothers, Brian and Duane, became the owners/operators of Lee Brothers Implement, both in Lansford and Mohall. Later, he and his brother, Duane, owned and operated Wheatland Equipment at the Renville Corner. In 1985, Gary and Coleen moved their family to Mohall, where they raised their children. They resided in Mohall until 1997, when they moved to Grand Junction, Colo., where he worked in the trucking industry. In July 2013, he and Coleen moved back to Minot to be closer to family.
Gary was a great father. He had a special bond with his children and was very close to them. He was a fun-loving, extremely giving, hardworking person who loved to joke around and have a good time. He loved people and attending family events. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing pool, restoring old cars, and took pride in his yardwork.
His loving family includes: wife of 35 years, Coleen, Minot; daughter, Sheena Lee (Jed Harvey), Grand Junction, Colo.; son, Jacob (Kryssi) Lee, Grand Junction, Colo.; grandson, Owen Jacob Lee; mother, Nina Lee, Minot; brothers, Brian (Neta) Lee, Minot, and Duane Lee, Lansford; sisters, Valerie Jo (James) Peterson, Minot, and Sue (Tony) Abernathy, Burlington; mother-in-law, Eleanor Williamson, Minot; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Lee; father-in-law, Lou Williamson; and nephew, Gordy Lee.
Funeral: Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation: Today, March 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
