Minot Daily News

Judy Nehring, 69, Minot, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in a Minot hospital.

Judy Arvaleen Capps was born March 21, 1944, a daughter of Fred S. and Laura D. (Ridenhour) Capps, in Tulsa, Okla. She was raised in Bristow, Okla., then Tulsa, where she attended school. While attending Tulsa Central High, Judy was a majorette and performed in the Cotton Bowl Parade. She graduated in 1962, and worked as an administrative assistant with a local company.

On Aug. 19, 1970, Judy was united in marriage to Jon Nehring in Bowbells. They made their home in Surrey, where Judy was a homemaker raising the couple's three children. She began working as a bookkeeper for Prairie Engineering in 1980, where she was still employed at the time of her death.

Judy enjoyed reading, craft shows, bowling, camping and anything to do with technology or computers. She loved to play double-deck pinochle with good friends. She had been a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Surrey, and the Eagles Auxiliiary in Minot, and was currently a member of the Women of the Moose and the American Legion Auxillary, both in Minot. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She was the "Gorilla Glue" that held our family together; we miss her terribly already.

Judy is survived by: Husband of 43 years, Jon, Minot; children, Jacquelyn (Scott) Nehring-Harvey, of Minot, Jill (Tony) Yocabet, of Phoenix, Jeff Nehring Sr., Minot; seven grandchildren, Devin, Renee, Anthony, Alyssa, Mindy, Jeff Jr., and Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Mikey and Kylynn, father, Fred (Lana) Capps, Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Elaine (Trenton) Earp, of Tulsa, and Sylvia Turman, of Tulsa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Judy was preceded in death by her mother; stepfather, Jim Braden; a granddaughter, Lacey; mother-in-law, Mildred Nehring; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Graveside service: Monday, March 17, at 3 p.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan.
