Members of the Jamestown Wizards basketball team begin to walk away after being awarded with the Adult’s Division 1 Gold Medal following the Special Olympics North Dakota’s 2014 State Basketball Tournament Saturday afternoon at Minot State University’s Dome. The 32nd annual tournament has been held in Minot every year. According to Reid Huttunen, the director of development for the organization, 46 teams from across the state as well as one team each from Manitoba and Montana participated across the various youth and adult divisions, accounting for roughly 480 players.
Rounding out the winners for Adults Division 1 competition is the Grand Forks Thunder with the Silver Medal, Team Manitoba with the Bronze Medal and the Dickinson Dominators coming in fourth place. The Devils Lake Bears took home the Gold for Youth’s Division 1, with the Grand Forks Falcons taking Silver, the Belcourt Braves taking Bronze and the Cass County Tigers coming in fourth place. Locally, the Minot Thunder took home the Gold Medal for Adult’s Division 2.
