Tony W. Feist, 88, Velva, formerly of Logan, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Anton "Tony" Wendlyn Feist was born June 27, 1925, the son of Frank and Catherine (Senger) Feist, in Karlsruhe. He was raised and educated in Karlsruhe.

Tony enlisted in the Army on June 16, 1945. He proudly served his country during World War II, and was honorably discharged Nov. 18, 1946.

Tony married Dolores K. Goebel June 10, 1952, in Karlsruhe. They made their home in Karlsruhe on the farm. Together with his Dad and brothers, they built St. Cecilia Catholic Church in 1957. Tony later moved to Velva, where he owned and operated Tony's Building Service. In 1960, they moved and made their home in Drake, where Tony owned and operated Feist Lumber. In 1965, they lost the home and business to a fire, but Tony rebuilt the business and continued living in Drake until 1972, when they moved to Minot.

After moving to Minot, Tony worked along with his brothers at Feist Cupboards and Minot Sash and Door. Tony later went to work with Dan at Feist Construction. In the mid-1980s, he went to work at Real Builders and did most of the bidding on the jobs.

In his spare time he loved to work on woodworking projects in his shop, building everything from cedar chests for his children to toys for his grandkids. In 1988, he retired, but that's when he really started working. Tony was now on call for Father Walter and was instrumental in the remodeling and improvements done to the inside of the St. Leo's Catholic Church.

He was a member of St. Leo's in Minot and St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Velva.

He enjoyed fishing with Father Walter, Dan, and Bill Ruelle, camping with his family, and his true passion, woodworking. He was always there to help his children when needed and built many items they still have to this day. Tony and Dolores were recently elected as King & Queen of Hearts at Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, a day we won't too soon forget.

Surviving family includes: wife of 61 years, Dolores Feist, Logan, who now resides at Souris Valley Care Center in Velva; children, Gayle (Steve) East, Goldbar, Wash., Bruce (Randi) Feist, Minot, Claudia Brendle, Minot, Greg Feist, of Ohio, Mary (Ken) West, Minot, and Gerard Feist, Fargo; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brothers, Daniel (Jean) Feist, Minot, Richard Feist, Minot, and Paul Feist, Elk Grove, Calif.; sisters, Jean Williams, Dixon, Calif., Eva (John) Deibert, Velva, Agnes Leier and Dotty Leier, both Elk Grove, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
