Minot State has hired another defensive coach to its football staff, the school announced Wednesday. Former Minnesota State-Mankato player and coach Chris Brunkhorst will serve as the defensive line coach and the program's strength and conditioning coach.
"In addition to coaching, Chris will serve as the team's academic and camp coordinator for the Beavers," MSU coach Todd Hoffner said in a press release. "Chris' fiery personality and tenacious coaching style will serve the Beavers well as a players' coach."
Brunkhorst has served as both an assistant strength and conditioning coach and football coach at Mankato. He's also interned at LSU, Arizona State and Mankato.
"I know the NSIC and I'm proud to be from a conference school," Brunkhorst said. "I know the competition and love the natural rivalries. I can't wait to be on the sidelines again."
He also will reunite with Hoffner, who coached Brunkhorst during his senior season in 2008 at Mankato. As a Maverick, Brunkhorst was first-team all-conference and was named the NSIC's defensive player of the year.
Brunkhorst is the second coach hired by Hoffner since taking over the helm earlier this month, joining defensive coordinator Byron Thomas.
