Karen A. Anderson, 56, Burlington, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in her home with her family at her side.
Karen Anne Courtenay was born on Nov. 5, 1957, a daughter of Donald C. and Doris I. (Roberts) Courtenay in Watertown, N.Y. She was raised and educated in Watertown.
Karen was once married to Mark Peterson. To this union two children were born: Mark Jr. and Jennifer.
Karen was united in marriage to Jack Anderson on Nov. 5, 1999, in Burlington. They made their home in Burlington. She worked at the JC Penney store in Minot for a time before assisting Jack with the operations of the Idle Hour Lounge located in Burlington.
Karen enjoyed spending time in the outdoors camping, working in her yard and playing with her dogs. She enjoyed the events sponsored by the Idle Hour, especially the chili cook-off's.
Karen is survived by: husband, Jack Anderson, Burlington; children, Mark (Angela) Peterson Jr., Minot, and Jennifer Grubb, Burlington; stepchildren, Tiffany (Tyrel) Schiele, Lignite, Breann (Josh) Audet, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; six grandchildren, Luke Peterson, Brady Peterson, Kristin Grubb, Rachel Grubb, Anderson Schiele, Elias Schiele; sisters, Joanne (Jerry) Long, Macon, Ga., Donna Grabowski, in Florida, Mari (Robert) Edenfield, Maysville, Ga.; brothers, Charles Courtenay, Asheville, N.C., James (Cindy) Courtenay, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington.
Burial: Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 1:30 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
