Richard A. Lakoduk, 56, Minot, formerly of Surrey, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, in a Minot medical center.
Richard Al Lakoduk was born Sept. 7, 1957, the son of Alfred and Marjorie (Selfors) Lakoduk. He was raised and educated in Minot and Surrey. He graduated in 1976 from Surrey High School. After graduation Richard was employed for a short time at Conoco Gas Station in Minot.
He was employed with Burlington Northern Railroad from 1977 to 1978. He also worked for John Broten Lumber in Minot and enjoyed working with customers and making deliveries. Richard started his apprentice training as a pipefitter in the fall of 1980 and then worked as a journeyman until 2014, working at various jobs including gas plants, paper mills, and coal plants. He would do any job from start up to reworks.
Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, especially hunting muleys and whitetails. The Badlands were his great joy for hiking the prairies, pheasants and grouse hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. Richard enjoyed reading everything.
His loving family includes: brothers, Randy (Kim) Lakoduk, and Ray (Brenda) Lakoduk, and sister, Rachael (Dave) Blake.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorial service: Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Visitation: Today, Feb. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.
Burial: Will take place in the spring at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
