More than 100 friends and colleagues of the late Michelle Larson took part in the second annual Shelly Larson Ski Stomp Run Walk on Sunday afternoon at the Souris Valley Golf Course.
"She was one of my favorite teachers," said Ben Berg, the current business and marketing education instructor at Minot High School-Magic City Campus. "She was one of those who kind of influenced me to go into business education."
Berg had been scheduled to do his student teaching with Larson in the spring of 2012, but Larson, who had been the business teacher at Magic City Campus, passed away unexpectedly that May at the age of 51.

Now Berg and Larson's former colleagues have dedicated themselves to organizing this annual event in her honor and to encourage people to be active and to eat healthy foods. Larson was healthy and had an active lifestyle, said Berg.
"(A heart attack) can happen to anyone," said Berg.
February is also Heart Health month and all proceeds raised from the event will go to the American Heart Association.
During the event, people either walked, skied or used snow shoes around the course.
Berg said there were 75 people pre-registered and he expected the number of participants to top 100. Some people who couldn't participate had bought T-shirts in advance, he said.
