Vanona "Nona" Christiansen, 87, of Springfield, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, in her residence.
She was born July 13, 1926, in Ryder, the daughter of Carl J. and Maree M. (Pettit) Hanchett. She was a member of Maiden Lane Church of God and a member of the Faith Believers Sunday school class. She volunteered at the VA hospital and also taught Sunday school in Minot.
Survivors include: her loving husband of 67 years, Gaylord "Chris" Christiansen; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Smith, of Springfield, Ohio; two grandchildren, Kristine (Silvano) Carcamo, of Springfield, Ohio, Capt. Keith (Diana) Christiansen Jr., of Augustus, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Ian Carcamo and Wyatt Christiansen; sister, Donna (Dino) Piagentini, of Hamilton, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Keith Christiansen Sr.; and three brothers, James, Donald and Harold Hanchett.
A gathering of family and friends: Will be held Sunday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, Springfield, Ohio.
Funeral services: Will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 27, in Maiden Lane Church of God, 1201 Maiden Lane, Springfield, Ohio, with Pastor Mark Martin officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park, Springfield, Ohio.
Memorial contributions: May be made in Nona's memory to Faith Believers Sunday School Class or the Maiden Lane Outreach House, 1201 Maiden Lane, Springfield, OH 45504.
