Thomas W. Redmond was born Aug. 14, 1952, in Devils Lake, the son of Lee and Elizabeth (Niclai) Redmond. He attended school in Mohall and graduated from Mohall High School in 1970. Tom continued his education at Minot State Teachers College, where he earned a teaching degree in 1975. He taught school in Flasher, Aneta, and Gwinner.

Tom was united in marriage to Gayle Hofer on Aug. 19, 1977, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake. They lived in Aneta for a short time before making their home in Turtle Lake. In 1980, they were blessed with a daughter, Sonja. Tom and Gayle purchased the Pla-Mor Lanes in Turtle Lake, which they owned and operated until 1985. Through the last 28 years, Tom was employed with Bis-Man Security at Falkirk Mine, West-Lite, the ADM canola plant near Velva, Data Drive Thru in Turtle Lake, and most recently Western Lighting in Turtle Lake.

He was a past member of the Turtle Lake Jaycees, the Turtle Lake Ambulance squad, and served on the Community Memorial Hospital board of directors. Tom enjoyed bowling and his tenure as golf instructor for the Central McLean Cougars golf team. He also enjoyed attending sporting events. His favorite saying at ball games was "Call it both ways!" Tom's family meant the world to him and he loved them with all his heart. He was very proud of his daughter, Sonja, and his grandson, Redik.
