District 5 Sen. Randy Burckhard and Reps. Scott Louser and Roger Brabandt said Monday that they will run for re-election to their respective North Dakota legislative seats in 2014. The three Republican legislators were first elected in November 2010 to four-year terms.
Burckhard serves as vice chairman of the Natural Resources Committee as well as serves on the Finance and Taxation Committee. In the interim, he serves on the Information Technology and Taxation committees. Burckhard is director of external affairs for SRT Communications.
Louser serves on the Business, Industry and Labor as well as Government and Veterans Affairs committees. In the interim, Louser is vice chairman of the Government Services Committee and is a member of the Employee Benefits Programs and Water Topics Overview committees. Louser is the broker/owner of Preferred Minot Real Estate.
Brabandt serves on the Energy and Natural Resources and Judiciary committees and in the interim serves on the Employee Benefits Programs and Government Services committees. Brabandt is retired.
District 5 is defined primarily as the southwest portion of the city of Minot.
The District 5 endorsing convention will be held Feb. 17 in the Grand Hotel of Minot following the Lincoln Day dinner. Gov. Jack Dalrymple will be keynote speaker at the dinner.
In addition to the endorsing convention, delegates will be chosen to represent District 5 at the North Dakota Republican Convention to be held in Minot on April 4 to 6.
