Evonne Arlene Tvedt, 82, Minot, formerly of Plaza, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, in a Minot hospital.
Evonne was born on April 11, 1931, at Plaza, the daughter of Erling and Anna (Hanger) Weltikol. She was raised on the family farm, where she attended country school and Plaza School. She graduated from Plaza High School in 1949.
On June 28, 1949, Evonne was united in marriage to DuWayne Tvedt in Minot. They made their home on their family farm in Lund Township of Ward County until 1961, when they moved into Plaza. They spent their winters in Apache Junction, Ariz., for several years and later moved into Minot and resided at the Somerset Court Assisted Living Facility.
Evonne enjoyed cooking, baking, raising flowers and caring for her yard. She was an avid reader and always completed the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper. She loved traveling and going for drives through the countryside with DuWayne. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was always very close to her brothers and sisters. She was a member of Spring Valley Lutheran Church, rural Plaza, and First Lutheran Church of Plaza.
Blessed be her memory among us.
Evonne is survived by: her husband, DuWayne, of Minot; daughters, Tammy Braaflat (Curt), of Plaza, and Tracy Gutierrez (Martin), of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Dorothy Johnson, of Minot, Esther Williams, of Petersburg, Va., Judith Bradley, of Minot, and Sheila Dawson (Keith), of Allegan, Mich.; brother, Larry Weltikol (Nana), of Flaxville, Mont.; grandchildren, Elliot (Tammie), Eric (Traci) and Lacy Braaflat; Alexandra Saltzman (Zachary) and Darrin and Aleta Poor Bear; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
