WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Minot State University wrestling team traveled to Missouri seeking its first dual victory of the season, but ran into three difficult opponents in an 0-3 showing at the University of Central Missouri Duals on Sunday.
The Beavers (0-4) dropped a 27-12 decision to UCM before losing to a pair of nationally-ranked programs - No. 2 University of Nebraska-Kearney and No. 12 Ouachita Baptist University (Ark.) - 31-13 and 38-15, respectively.
"We took on some pretty tough competition today and that is somewhat reflected in the team scores," MSU coach Robin Ersland said in a press release. "But what the team scores don't show is that in spots we actually wrestled very well."
MSU senior Matt Fetterley and freshman Tiger Paasch finished 2-1, alternating between 174 and 184 pounds. Junior Joshua Douglas (133 pounds) also won two of his three matches. Paasch and junior Jon Wilson (157) had the Beavers' two pins during the duals, both coming against OBU.
The Beavers return to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play at Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
