FOXHOLM Mary Louise Helseth, 74, Carpio, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at a Minot nursing home.
Mary was born Oct. 21, 1939, to Walter and Alpha (Olson) Black, of Foxholm. She was raised and attended grade school in Foxholm. From the start of her sophomore year of school, she attended Carpio High School, where she graduated in 1957.
Mary married her high school sweetheart, Darrell L. Helseth, on June 7, 1958, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Foxholm. They lived most of their married life in the Carpio area with the exception of living in Fargo from 1960 until 1966. In 1966, they returned to Carpio to farm with Darrell's uncle, Clarence Vaagen, raising grains and livestock. They built a home in Carpio, where they raised their family. With the passing of Clarence, they moved to the farmstead and have lived there since. Mary previously worked at Northwestern Bell in Minot, and at Peterson's Grocery in Carpio, along with helping on the family farm.
Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm, where she was active in the Christian Mother's Society. She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, flowers and her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; father- and mother-in-law, Oscar and Junette Helseth; daughter, Susan Helseth; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Bruce Johnson; brother, Wesley Black; and brother-in-law, Gary Helseth.
Funeral: Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at 1 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm.
Burial: Nazareth Cemetery, rural Carpio.
Visitation: Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
