Margaret ‘Margee’ Stevely

Margaret Ann "Margee" Stevely completed her journey in life on Wednesday evening, Dec. 18, 2013, and was called home to the promise of life everlasting.

Margee was born on June 26, 1945, to Peder and Irene (Elefson) Christopherson, in Bottineau. She was the second of three children. Margee graduated from Bottineau High School and received a bachelor's degree in education from Pacific Lutheran University in 1968. She married David Stevely on Feb. 3, 1973, in Tacoma, Wash.

Margee's joy in life was raising her children, Tricia and Travis. As a family they enjoyed traveling the U.S. and abroad. Margee was a devoted band parent and involved in many of the kids' activities wherever they lived. She was a beloved member of Messiah Lutheran Church, serving as children's choir director for many years. Her love of children brought her to Gildo Rey Elementary in Auburn, Wash., where she finished her career in education as a reading specialist.

Margee is survived by: daughter, Tricia (David) Bovey of Dumfries, Va.; son, Travis Stevely of Lynnwood, Wash.; sister, Carol Geiszler of Grand Forks; brother, Wally (Sonja) Christopherson of Steilacoom, Wash.; special friends/caregivers Paulette and Fred Anderson of Kent, Wash.; nieces, Katrina (Jeff) Yarnell, Heather (Kurt) Skari, Megan (Jesse) Ahlers; nephews, Cory (Sheri) Geiszler, Vasya Christopherson, Stas Christopherson; great-nieces and great-nephews, the youngest to whom she was "Auntie Gee"; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Memorial service to be held Monday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church (410 H St NE, Auburn, Wash.).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or Franciscan Hospice of University Place.
