Kenneth Rodney Miller, 86, of Tioga, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Dec. 15, 2013, with family by his side, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Kenneth Rodney Miller was born June 12, 1927, to George and Clara (Boley) Miller in Leaf Mountain Township, Burke County. He was educated in a one-room country school house and was baptized and confirmed at the Townsend Lutheran Church near Powers Lake.

Kenneth farmed with his father until 1946 when he enlisted in the Army. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged in August 1947. He returned home to North Dakota and began farming again until 1951 when he took a position at the veterans hospital in Minot. He continued working there until the oil boom began in the Tioga area. He then worked on construction of the Signal Oil Gas Plant in Tioga, which is now the Hess Gas Plant. In 1954, when the plant was completed, Ken was hired on as an operator and continued there until his retirement in 1989.

In 1954, Kenneth married Julia Bedner. In 1975 he was married to Maxine Olson.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tioga. He was also a member of the American Legion for more than 60 years and Williston Moose Lodge No. 239. He was also a member of the Tioga Sons of Norway and the Tioga Senior Citizens and was very active in both organizations.

He loved going fishing. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica, dancing and playing cards with his many friends. His kindness and sense of humor will surely be missed.
