Burnell "John" Eugene Repnow, 83, Minot, formerly of the Underwood and Turtle Lake area, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, in a Minot hospital.
Burnell was born Dec. 27, 1929, at Underwood, the son of Walter and Bertha (Anderson) Repnow. He was raised on the family farm in the Underwood/Turtle Lake area and assisted with the operation of the farm during his younger years. He was drafted into the Army on April 11, 1951, and honorably served his country during the Korean War until March 26, 1953.
Following his discharge, he returned to North Dakota and was employed as a truck driver in the construction industry. He was united in marriage to Doris Heinle on Aug. 1, 1954, at Turtle Lake. In 1957, they moved to Minot, where he was employed at the Minot Air Force Base in civil service until 1990 when he retired.
Burnell was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Minot, where he served on the church council as a trustee. He was also a member of the Minot American Legion, VFW Post #753 and NARFE. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards and spending time at his lake home on Rice Lake with family and friends. His most enjoyable time was spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His loving family includes: wife of 59 years, Doris; daughters, Cheryl (Brad) Clott, Minot, Cristyl (Robert) Turi, Cota De Coza, Calif., and Charlene (Paul) Fjeldahl, Minot; grandchildren: Tera Clott, Aaron (Christine) Clott, Brittany Davis, Christen Turi, Ashley Turi, Lindsey Turi, Matthew Turi, Chance Fjeldahl and Chanel Fjeldahl; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Abby, Aydryen and Bailey Clott; brother, TeRoy (Marianne) Repnow, Underwood; sisters-in-law, Elaine Repnow, Mandan, and Dorothy Repnow, Coupeville, Wash.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Burnell was preceded in death by: his parents; grandson, Daniel Turi; great-granddaughter, Kira Clott; sisters, Elsie and Martha, and brothers, Walter Jr. and Delano.
Funeral service: Friday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m., in Faith United Methodist Church, Minot
Interment: Friday, at 3 p.m., in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan.
Visitation: Thursday, from 3 to 7 p.m., in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
