Marcella "Marcy" L. Thompson, 61, Minot, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, in a Minot hospital.

Marcy was born on July 13, 1952, in Minot, the daughter of Leo and Dolores (Schwartz) Linnertz. She was raised in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1970. After graduation she attended Minot State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in accounting.

Marcy was united in marriage to David "Buzz" Thompson on April 3, 1976. The couple made their home in Minot, where Marcy worked for H&R Block and then for Service Printers until retiring. The couple recently purchased a home in Arizona, where they had spent the past three winters.

Marcy enjoyed softball and bowling and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. She cherished caring for her family and grandchildren, Marcy was Buzz's number one cart girl at harvest time and helper always. She took special care of her 87-year-old mother and anyone else who needed her. She was also a lover of animals and did her best to keep all the neighborhood squirrels fed. Marcy will be deeply missed by all who shared in her short time with us.

Survivors: husband, Buzz, Minot; son, Jason, of Gilbert, Ariz.; grandchildren, Maggie, Troy and Kiley; mother, Dolores Blomquist, Minot; sister, Nancy (John) Gillstrap, Minot; brother, Michael (Cindy) Linnertz, Tucson, Ariz.

Marcy was preceded in death by her father, Leo; and stepfathers, Rollie Harkness and Jim Blomquist.

Memorials: Are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter, Minot.

Funeral service: Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Today, Dec. 17, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
