A Mandan man, 25-year-old Glen Reiner, was apprehended by Minot Police Saturday afternoon following an armed carjacking.
According to a Minot Police Department report, Reiner brandished a weapon in an unsuccessful attempt to steal a vehicle in the parking lot of the Harley-Davidson store at 515-20th Ave. SE. During a second attempt at carjacking another vehicle, the occupants exited the vehicle and Reiner fled the scene in the same vehicle. The vehicle was located a short time later stuck in a yard at 525-8th Ave. SE.
The suspect was taken into custody following a short struggle with officers. One officer was assaulted during the encounter.
Reiner was charged with armed robbery, criminal attempt to armed robbery, assault on a police officer, fleeing police in a motor vehicle, two counts of striking an unattended motor vehicle and driving under suspension. He also has two warrants from Burleigh County. Reiner is being held in the Ward County Jail.
