City workers were finishing up repairs late Wednesday afternoon to a broken water main on Third Street Northeast near the intersection with 11th Avenue. "It happened Tuesday night and they worked on it all night," said Bob Lindee, City of Minot public information officer. "It was just old pipe, nothing to do with freezing or anything like that. It was well below the frost line." According to Lindee, breaks of old pipe are as likely to occur in summer as they are in winter. Traffic on Third Street Northeast had to be detoured during the excavation, repairs and backfill. Motorists should be aware of possible slippery conditions in the area of the break.
